Set to open in 2015, the San Francisco General Hospital replacement will be San Francisco’s only Level 1 Trauma Center. To speed up the construction schedule of this critical project, Webcor Builders looked for innovative, time-saving ways to apply a concrete moisture emission control and substrate leveling system. That led them to Floor Seal Technology’s PowerPump. The plan? Apply the concrete moisture emission control system to every slab receiving a floor finish. The nine levels spanned nearly 450,000 square feet of the hospital, so Webcor estimated the process would take at least three months to complete. Fortunately, we had an even better schedule in mind.
Floor Seal technicians got to work right away. The PowerPump System allowed the concrete moisture emission control and slab leveling work to begin seven days after each concrete slab was poured. By applying the system to the entire slab before interior walls were even erected, Floor Seal was able to complete each 50,000-square-foot level in three days each, shaving a whopping six weeks off Webcor’s expected timeline. This enabled the remaining construction to start well ahead of schedule.
